Hey there! My name is Vic, and this is my 2015 summer project. I figured, what could a brosis who likes theatre and comics blog about? So I decided to merge the two and here we are. My goal is to make a post a day of what I read with some background information, research, or an analysis of what I read.
But so okay, my little blurb. I’m a UNLV graduate and a grad student at the Ohio State University, studying early modern literature and performance. I have a cat named Thor, my pronouns are they/them/theirs, and I am massively interested in the connection between pornography raids and comic stores in 1980s USA.
Besides this eclectic sampling of fine dramatic and graphic literature, I did a dramaturgy project for Quiara Alegria Hudes’ Water by the Spoonful called Dramaturgy by the Spoonful and have published research on Manuel Puig’s Kiss of the Spider Woman, so it’d be cool if you checked that out. Hint, hint, nudge, nudge.
If you’re wondering about the url, I’m starting with Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and my favorite comic is Thor’s classic series, Journey Into Mystery. What happens when you merge them together? A really awesome Long Day’s Journey Into Mystery.
